In the heart of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines lies a special place where nature can be explored up close. It's the Valbonella Botanical Garden , a small treasure trove of biodiversity, created in 1983 thanks to a collaboration with the State Forestry Corps. Here, every plant has a story to tell. Walk the paths, stop to read the signs, and discover curious details about the plant world that often go unnoticed. Valbonella is more than a garden: it's an invitation to slow down, observe, and be amazed.A journey through the flora of the Apennines

An open-air museum among woods, streams and meadows
The Garden covers an area of approximately two hectares, where you can explore over 300 species of regional flora , some rare and protected. Three thematic paths guide you through different environments:
The forest
The stream and the wetlands
The cliffs, the prairies and the shrublands
Along the way, each plant is presented with its name and characteristics. Along with basic information, you'll also find interesting facts about their geographic distribution (chorology) and their adaptation strategies to weather challenging seasons (biological form).
The butterfly garden and medicinal plants
Continue your visit and discover the small butterfly garden , filled with flowering plants that attract butterflies and pollinators. There's also an area dedicated to medicinal and medicinal plants , where you can discover species traditionally used for health and well-being.
The xylotheque: the story of trees through wood
Inside a charming wooden house is the xylotheque. This collection of wood samples allows visitors to observe the various tree species up close and learn about the diversity of species present in the area.
