Valtiberina toscana - Tedalda Abbey
Located in the heart of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines, Badia Tedalda has roots in Roman times, when it was a stopping point along the Via Ariminensis, which connected Arezzo to Rimini. The village's name derives from one of the two medieval Benedictine abbeys, founded by the Tedaldi family. Among the places of worship, the Church of San Michele Arcangelo stands out, containing precious 16th-century Della Robbia terracottas. The area is crisscrossed by ancient religious routes, such as the Via di Francesco , which testify to the place's spiritual vocation.
Living traditions and authentic flavors
Despite its small size, Badia Tedalda boasts a rich calendar of events celebrating local traditions. Among the most popular are the Badia Market , held every Wednesday from April to September, and the Feast of Sant'Ellero , the town's patron saint. Local cuisine features traditional peasant dishes, such as grilled potato tortelli, homemade pasta, and Chianina beef, all accompanied by mushrooms and truffles foraged in the surrounding woods.
