Valtiberina toscana - Monterchi
Monterchi, a Tuscan village located in the Tiber Valley, is famous for hosting the Madonna del Parto, a fresco created by Piero della Francesca between 1455 and 1465. The work, dedicated to the artist's mother, who was originally from the area, is preserved in the Museum of the Madonna del Parto , specially set up to house this Renaissance masterpiece. The historic center of Monterchi still retains its medieval walls , evidence of the village's origins dating back to the 11th century. Despite the 1917 earthquake, the town has retained its urban layout intact, with cobbled streets , small squares , and underpasses that tell the story of the area's history and tradition.
