MIDDLE SCHOOL I
WATER AND THE DAM (guided tour/workshop)
A visit to the museum to learn about the path of the Ridracoli water, from its catchment area to its distribution throughout the region. A visit to the thematic centers and monitoring instruments on the dam's crest completes the program. The workshop, "Meteorologists for a Year ," completes the program: using everyday materials and in small groups, students will create atmospheric measuring instruments that the class can use throughout the school year.
WATER AND LIFE (guided tour/workshop)
The new film explores the origins of water, the emergence and development of life, and the adaptations of organisms. Through hands-on experiences and interactive games, visitors discover that the water molecule possesses fundamental characteristics for life and evolution. A walk through the thematic centers and monitoring instruments on the crest of the river will conclude with a workshop, "Stream Inhabitants," to analyze the watercourse, including capturing and observing macroinvertebrates that are indicators of water quality.
YOU ARE THE GUIDES (excursion/workshop)
Flipped classroom experiment. The Water and the Dam tour is led directly by the students, who receive useful information and study materials in preparation for the trip. During the visit, the class is divided into small groups that discuss the topics covered in class. The day ends with a visit to the tunnels or the water purification plant.
LANDSCAPES AND PEOPLES (excursion/workshop)
A fascinating excursion following ancient homes and stories of the recent past in the Bidente Valley, discovering how man can transform nature: the Ridracoli Dam in the National Park. Observation and analysis of landscape elements using binoculars and maps.
THE SECRETS OF NATURE also available in English (guided tour/workshop/excursion)
The Ridracoli Dam is located within the Park, guardian of the majestic forests, a World Heritage Site. The day is dedicated to exploring the Park, its flora and fauna, through the museum rooms and a walk near the Cà di Sopra refuge. Orienteering activities include a competition with compass and map to learn how to interpret the surrounding landscape.
EXPLORING WATER AND STONES ( workshop )
Fieldwork including observation of vegetation along the stream, analysis of the river corridor and its ecological functions. Next, a trip to the dam and a hike to the Cà di Sopra refuge. Introduction to cartography and team orienteering competition. Return along the trail to the dam.
IN THE HEART OF THE PARK (excursion)
Boat excursion and hike to the Lama Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its ancient beech forests, to learn how to explore the area with maps and a compass. Tablets and special apps will also teach you how to identify the forest's main trees, including many majestic, centuries-old specimens.
TERROR IN RIDRACOLI (excursion)
During the hike along the Ridracoli Nature Trail, participants must unravel the mysteries of a disturbing crime that took place in Ridracoli: who is the killer? What is the motive? All the secrets are revealed by solving small puzzles. Evening/nighttime tours are also available.
CHALLENGE TO CO₂ (guided tour/workshop)
Technology, energy, and sustainable development: learn practical tips for saving water and energy and addressing the challenges of current climate change. Using Kahoot!'s "educational technology," boys and girls challenge each other and test their knowledge.

WHERE WATER IS THE PROTAGONIST (guided tour)
The Romagna Aqueduct: the drainage basin and distribution network. A tour of the dam with insights into its technology and landscape.
Full-day experience: immersion in a natural environment through landscape analysis. Visit a section of internal tunnels and travel to the Capaccio water purification plant.
4 STEPS ON THE ROOF OF ROMAGNA (excursion)
Starting from the Campigna fir forest, you'll reach the Burraia pastures, searching for sounds and tracks left by the park's animals. Thanks to the Dryades project and tablets, you can identify botanical species with interactive identification keys.
Itinerary : Campigna, Ponticino, Burraia, Monte Falco, Fangacci, Ponticino, Campigna.
WATER QUALITY BIOINDICATORS (laboratory)
Survey of a freshwater stream, collection of macroinvertebrate samples, observation with stereoscopes and identification with dichotomous keys, to assign the stretch under examination its Extended Biotic Index (EBI) and classify its quality.
The trophic role of organisms observed in the food chain.
The walk to the Cà di Sopra refuge can be combined, either on foot or partly by boat.
GEOLOGY AT IDRO (guided tour/workshop)
At the museum, an introduction to the Ridracoli reservoir and water distribution, including a 3D film. Visit the thematic centers and monitoring instruments on the crest; dam technology, landscape, and geological formations of Romagna.
Dam control tools with visits to the internal tunnels.
Geology and sedimentary rock identification workshop, stratigraphic survey with compasses.
The walk to the Cà di Sopra refuge can be combined on foot or partly by boat.
VOLUNTEERS AT THE BOTANICAL GARDEN (workshop)
The Valbonella Botanical Garden is a true open-air museum where you can discover the plant environments of the Romagna Apennines with a rich collection of species, often rare and protected, of the regional flora.
Recognizing botanical species with applications loaded on tablets.
Arrangement of the Garden's paths and fences under the supervision of the operators.
THE FOREST ENVIRONMENT (excursion/workshop)
Excursion to the mixed forest around the dam for analysis and monitoring: identification of tree and shrub species, including using tablets and interactive identification keys (Dryades), execution of a phyto-sociological and dendrometric survey, and field soil analysis.
Processing of collected data and considerations on forest structure, plant successions and the concept of climax.
AIR QUALITY IN THE FOREST (excursion/workshop)
Boat trip to the Comignolo raft. From there, a short hike continues to the Lama Forest.
During the journey, mapping and orientation activities with the compass.
Afternoon dedicated to the study of lichens as air bioindicators using tablets and interactive identification keys.
