A treasure chest of wonders The Piero della Francesca Civic Museum in Sansepolcro is among the most important museums in Tuscany for its exhibition and educational features. The museum is housed in the ancient Palazzo della Residenza or Palazzo dei Conservatori (13th century), the seat of the Municipality until the 1960s. The building has undergone several architectural modifications, begun by Galeotto Malatesta , lord of Rimini, whose family ruled Sansepolcro during the 14th century. The heart of the museum is the Sala dei Conservatori where Piero della Francesca created the Resurrection in 1460, the emblem and symbol of the city.
