The late Gothic residence of one of Umbria's most influential families, Palazzo Trinci is a jewel housing unique pictorial cycles and must-see museums. Located in the heart of Foligno 's historic center, Palazzo Trinci was the residence of the family that governed the city between 1305 and 1439. It is considered a true "illustrated encyclopedia" of Humanism, thanks to the extraordinary frescoes that decorate the rooms and loggias, a testimony to the cultural fervor of that era. The visit begins from the loggia frescoed by Gentile da Fabriano , featuring the famous legend of Romulus and Remus. Among the most evocative rooms are the Hall of the Liberal Arts and the Planets , the Hall of the Giants with portraits of Roman emperors, and the Hall of Sixtus IV , with its wooden ceiling commissioned by the pontiff in 1475. Today Palazzo Trinci is not only a monument, but also an important cultural center that houses the Municipal Art Gallery , the Archaeological Museum , the Museum of the Municipal Institution and the Multimedia Museum of Jousts and Tournaments , offering visitors a complete experience of art, history and traditions.
