Barbarano Romano
Barbarano Romano is a town of Etruscan and Roman origins, which today appears as a compact and well-preserved medieval village, surrounded by an area rich in rock necropolises. The town's historical roots are told within the Museum of the Rock Necropolises and the Naturalistic Museum of the Marturanum Park , two places that allow us to understand the link between archaeology, nature and ancient settlements. Visitors are drawn to this village not only by its archaeological sites and religious and civic architecture, but also by a gastronomic culture that preserves local traditions and continues to support the local economy. Festivals, traditional products, and community rituals demonstrate a vibrant identity. Barbarano Romano also manages the Marturanum Regional Park , a natural area punctuated by ravines, trails, and Etruscan remains scattered across the landscape. Here, one senses a slower pace, one that many young locals choose to maintain, finding the village simple, authentic, and deeply rooted in its history. A true open-air museum, inhabited and lived in every day.
