Walk through history, vineyards, and tombs along the ancient Via Clodia.
An easy trek for everyone between Blera and the ancient village of Petrolo , following one of the best-preserved stretches of the Etruscan-Roman Via Clodia . From the historic center, you pass the "Rocca" (fortress) and walk among vineyards, olive groves, and low dry-stone walls built with materials salvaged from the ancient city: blocks of tuff, fragments of marble, paving stones, and ceramics. Along the way, you'll discover traces of ancient Blera: remains of tuff walls, rock necropolises with arcosolium tombs, and, from the Pian del Vescovo panoramic viewpoint, a view of the valley and the tombs carved into the cliff face. The trail descends to the Ponte della Rocca (2nd century BC) and re-enters the ravines, skirting rock necropolises from the Etruscan and Roman eras. A walking journey where history, nature, and archaeology intertwine at every step.
